Richard\u2019s roots are deeply embedded in Canterbury soil, and he has an innate understanding of the region’s land and climate, although he draws his inspiration from gardens and plants from all over the world. Fundamentally practical, yet also highly creative, he has a knack for visualising spaces and the knowhow to make sure everything grows to plan. \u201cThere\u2019s no point wasting time and money putting the right things in the wrong place,\u201d he says. \u201cI like to make sure everyone understands from the start where we\u2019re going and how we\u2019re going to get there. That\u2019s not to say there aren\u2019t always a few curve balls, which keep things interesting and make sure we can all think on our feet.\u201d<\/p>\n
Kate, meanwhile, grew up in South Africa, and she ensures the business grows as strongly as the plants, deftly managing back office operations, scheduling and marketing. \u201cWe like to keep a healthy balance to our workload; plenty of creative jobs to keep the whole team stimulated and fresh, and some more routine-based jobs to meet the ongoing needs of our clients.\u201d<\/p>\n
